Multiple Sclerosis Limited Principles
Multiple Sclerosis Limited (MSL) is service agency working to support People with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS), families and carers dealing with the effects of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on their lives.
- MSL was established by PwMS, families and carers to represent PwMS their families and carers.
- MSL's role is to listen to and support PwMS their families and carers.
- MSL responds to emerging issues affecting PwMS appropriately and sensitively taking into account medical, organisational, social and other related considerations.
- MSL does not give medical advice but refers PwMS to their health professionals for medical advice.
- MSL will provide service delivery support, endorse and, in some instances, provide disease specific, non-medical treatments to deal with the symptoms of MS.
- MSL aims to be a trusted source of information on MS and ensures that this information is:
- evidence based
- supported by ongoing research
- useful and beneficial to PwMS
- MSL is not a research agency but works closely with and supports the work of Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia (MSRA).
- MSL liaises with MSRA, Multiple Sclerosis Australia (MSA) (representing all state MS societies) and its members and Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) to obtain accurate information on new and emerging developments/treatments in order to respond in a timely, appropriate and effective manner
to PwMS.
- Scientific and medical research responses by MSL will rely upon strong research governance processes.
- MSL will consider support for national policy positions taking into account assessments by MSA and MSRA.
